Since when do Presidents Rule?

Am I just being picky on the word choice? I thought Presidents govern, lead, serve, but rule?

i agree totally. "rule" seems too much like a soverign or monarch like taking charge without the consent of anyother citizens, senate, house, etc.

No, it's not you. I think that is an extremely creepy choice of words.

No, it's annoying. I'd even go as far as saying it might even be a subliminal message of sorts...

Scary thought.

Think it was a slip of the tongue? She may have been reprimanded for letting the cat out of the bag.
Keep praying and remember, four years in not to long. I think.

What beautiful sentiments Therese. I know they are looking down from Heaven with such love for you and your family. Their prayers will continue to strengthen the difficult moments. Hope

Hmmm... I didn't see this. I wonder if Tom Brokaw picked up on her choice of words and said anything about it...

Therese,
Leadership that "rules" is not only an issue with politicians. You find it at church, at girl scouts, the Red Cross, etc.
May I send you an excerpt from my book, "To Lead is to Serve - How to attract volunteers & keep them" ? Shar McBee

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this odd choice of words. I wasn't even listening that closely, when it hit me like sand in clam chowder. I listened to it three times in disbelief. While I'm hopeful that President-elect Obama doesn't see himself as a Messiah, I'm beginning to see that those who would be close to him are styling themselves as Disciples... I think I shall learn to breathe deeply.
