And then there was a sling...

When I had my first baby (Peter), a lot of people asked if I was going to have some sort of sling or carrier. I swore up and down that I never would! I was always nervous that the baby would somehow fall out. Things change over time!

When I found out I was pregnant this time, I was really worried about handling a new baby and Michael. At 4, he is my busiest child thus far. I started doing a lot of research. I knew I wanted a pouch because rings and straps make me fearful the baby will fall out. I finally settled on a ComfyJoey.

I ordered it a couple of months before Alex was born. Before I talk about the pouch itself, I have to say how wonderful the customer service was. Ayesha emailed me before and after I got it, and she double checked measurements, etc, to make sure I had the right size.

When Alex was born, it took me about a week before I used it. Quite honestly, it was on my dresser and I had forgotten about it. Then, on that fateful first day of soccer, I used it. It was love at first wearing! She settled in and slept through not one but 2 games. The next morning, I thought to myself, why not try it for Mass? Again, it was fabulous!

Since then, I have been using it for all kinds of outings. On Saturday, I had another realization. I needed to get some cleaning done, and Alex was fussing. I wondered if I really could do it with her in the sling. Guess what? I was able to vacuum quite easily, and get some other tasks done, including working at the computer (being able to type with both hands!).

I love my ComfyJoey. Not sure why I waited so long!

I didn't have a sling till number three either. I loved it too. It was great when I went to the kindy to pick up Daniel.

I only had two children - perhaps I should have had another one to experience using a sling. :P

Good for you Therese! Baby wearing is so important. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/5/t051100.asp and it improves neurological development and more! http://slingcycle.wordpress.com/benefits-of-babywearing/

Enjoy this time, I miss it. Nursing was so discreet wearing a sling.

I agree that babywearing is important (and makes life SO much easier!). I didn't use a sling with my first 2. Our #3 was dubbed the "klingon" so it became a survival mechanism. What a pleasant surprise that something so necessary was so wonderful ~ for her and us!

I'm glad you like your pouch sling. I'm old, crusty and set in my ways. I like ring slings and have about half-a-dozen of them... I wonder if I'll ever have to pull them out again?

Sounds wonderful. I too always thought they looked/seemed kind of odd. But have heard amazing reviews. And how much nicer than baby being in a carrier all the time. Ok. So now like we need to see pictures!
