Sunday Morning Frustration

In my previous post, I wrote about what a crazy busy weekend we had. Yesterday morning, as we got ready for Church, I was hormonal exhausted.

I sent the older boys upstairs to get dressed for Mass. They came down in winter shirts. I know I live in the north, but it isn't cold here anymore. I sent them back upstairs to change into short sleeve shirts.

Drew came to show me what he was wearing, and he was in an appropriate shirt, except it was filthy. I told him once more to go up and change. In the smarty pants tone that is only Drew these days, he asked, "Why do I need to change AGAIN?" I looked at him and said, "because there is CRAP all over that shirt!" In the truly innocent way that a child who has never heard his mother say this word can say, he responded, "Mom, what's crap?" At that point, I told him the shirt was dirty, he needed to change and not to use that word ever again.

For the next few hours, I carried some guilt over the word choice, until I was told by a couple other mothers that I could have said something MUCH worse. I have no idea what kind of words they are talking about! ;)

Yeah, you could have said an even worse word, so be glad that was what you said other than something else :)

Um, lots of parenting moments over here I'm not so proud of these days. We've all been there and done that -- and believe you me, I'm sure you could have said worse. Don't beat yourself up!

Hang in there!

lol. I remember when I told my 14 year old to stop being such a B*&%^. Her eyes got really wide and she was so shocked that I used such a word that she apologized straight away.

Later she said to me I never thought I would hear you say that mum.

You don't know how happy I am to read this post. I love your honesty and sharing. This happens to me more times that I care to admit. And I feel terrible. Nice to be reminded I'm human.

I'm not even hormonal and can't keep my trap shut on the naughty words . . . we all trip up now and again and you corrected yourself pretty good. Hang in there! God bless you!!!!

I told the dog to shut up today... while we were eating lunch. And Alex goes "OOOOOH... you said 'Shut Up!' That's really naughty mommy." With all the sassiness that a three year old can muster. I had to apologize... or put myself in the naughty corner.
