Viruses, Spam and such...

It has been an interesting 24 hours I must say! Yesterday, I logged into my gmail account to see about 20 new comments on my blog. I was all excited to see this because I love getting comments! Upon further inspection, I realized that I had been spammed. I vaguely remember seeing someone else writing about being hit by a Chinese spammer. Well, now I was too! I showed it to my husband who immediately wanted to know what the characters meant. He threw it in a translator, and, well, let's just say it was not good. I spent an hour last night deleting all of those comments.

Then, this morning, while I was checking out a site for a TV spoiler (can't help it, I am curious!), I suddenly got a warning that we had not only been hit by a virus, but by a Trojan horse. For those of you who might not know, my husband Andy works on computers for a living, and I prided myself on never having downloaded a virus. OOOH, I downloaded a doozy now. I called him on his way to work, and he came home to start the disinfecting...it is still running, and I am stuck typing this on my kids' computer.

This was not the morning for him to have to come home either. He has a huge company wide meeting to discuss the financial picture. I am not worried, yet, but in 12 years there has never been a meeting such as this one...OK, just took Herd Momma's advice-write the worry let it go! I feel better already! Now if only my computer would! Have a great day!

Those viruses are horrible! I wish people would find better things to do than try and mess with others this way. Sad. Hope you get it back up and running soon :)

Gina is getting spammed also. She thought it was because she took the word verification off.

I hope that the computer will be working and running again soon.

Don't people have anything better to do then spamming people?

I hope your computer gets back up and running! I am positive my PC at home has a virus...or it's just possessed. I don't want to spend the money to find out!

My hubs does this PC stuff for the Navy . . . we hardly ever have PC problems. He always tells me now Instant messanger, no FaceBook, stuff like that. My blog makes him nervous, but he thinks it's okay . . . He's quite handy.

AACK! I'm freaking out about what the heck is going on. Might be coming to you for advice if it heads my way. So sorry but how fortunate that your hubby can fix it.

I wish everybody would just play nice.

You are the 2nd person I have heard of this happening to.
What a headache.
But what a lovely gift to have a husband who can doctor the situation.

oh dear Therese, I am so sorry this happened.

I have seen the Chinese spam on several blogs. It is because of those kind of comments that I have comment moderation.

I thought maybe newbies would be a bit more hesitant to leave comments when they see comment moderation but I want to have a say in what is being said on my blog.

Hi Therese! I'm late in adding my congratulations, but here they are now! I'll keep you and your family in my prayers that all goes well from here on in, that the baby is healthy, and the big brothers are helpful and happy.

P.S. Don't feel too bad about the virus. We've had that happen here, despite how careful we've been. Stuff happens.
